Top Rank President Todd DuBoef was in Mexico City yesterday where he visited the offices of Azteca, the second largest media company in Mexico. “Mexico City from Azteca’s helicopter. On the way to their offices for lunch,” Duboef recently wrote on his official Twitter page, also providing a picture of his aerial view. Accompanied by Zanfer Promotions President Fernando Beltran, DuBoef met with executives of TV Azteca. While the main goal was to go over the 2012 first quarter schedule of televised fights on the network, interestingly enough, the subject of a fourth fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao was brought up during the meeting.
“We are finishing putting together the rest of the fights for February and March, and in that month [March], in the event that Pacquiao does not grant Marquez a rematch, he could fight on March 17 in the new arena here in the capital of Mexico,” noted Beltran, who works with Marquez. Beltran is of the opinion, however, that because a fight with Floyd Mayweather will not take place on May 5, Marquez will be Pacquiao’s top choice as his next opponent. “That fight [Mayweather vs. Pacquiao] is not going to happen. Manny’s first choice to make more money is to fight Juan Manuel Marquez,” Beltran continued in an interview with Medio Tiempo, also making it clear that his main goal was to come to an agreement for a fourth fight. “We have every intention [of revenge],” he added. “Manny is a warrior, he is hardworking. I do not see why he would turn him down. What I am sure of is that Marquez is going to win the next one.
