On January 21,2012, Boxing will make it?s much anticipated return to primetime television network. The Asylum Arena in Philadelphia, PA will play host to the first segment of NBC Sports Network Fight Night. The main event will feature the 36-2,??Fast?? Eddie Chambers against the 25-4, Sergei ??White Wolf?? Liakhovich. It will without a doubt be a huge day for the sport of boxing, but make no mistake about it, that both fighters realize that a big win will place them a step closer to the mainstream names of the division. Last night, I had the chance of touching base with Eddie Chambers and here is what he had to say.
Fight night is fast approaching; let?s start this off by having you describe to us what it all means to you to be fighting on NBC in front of your hometown crowd in Philly. How does it feel?
EC- It feels great. It?s an opportunity that doesn?t come around often for a lot of fighters in my position. So trust me when I tell you that that this is an opportunity that I will take advantage of.
Talk to us about how this huge opportunity to face the White Wolf on network television came about, where were you when you got the call?
EC- I was at home, and at the time I wasn?t so sure as to when I was going to fight again. It was then that the call came in, and it couldn?t have come at a better time.
Perfect time, I hear that man. It?s all about the timing, which leads me to ask you about your opponent. Sergei is a tough come forward type that is in love with the thought of making contact. In studying Sergei a little, what would you say are the top 2 weaknesses that immediately jump out at you?
