It seems Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello will have to go through another Mexican fighter before he can fight for a world title. Promoter Aljoe Jaro informed philboxing that the World Boxing Council (WBC) has ordered for negotiations for the final elimination bout between Ganigan Lopez of Mexico and Cuello for the mandatory challenger status in the strawweight division.
Cuello (29W-4L-6D, 19 KO’s),who also fights using the name Cuello D. Singwangcha after his Thai sponsor and boxing patron Naris Singwangcha, is the reigning WBC Silver 105 lb titlist and was the WBC ?S number one ranked contender with Lopez ranked number 2. But their positions are reversed in the WBC website.
The reigning WBC strawweight champion is Kazuto Ioka of Japan.
Lopez (20W-4L, 14 KO?s) once held the WBC Latino and Silver titles. He has won by stoppage in five of his last seven wins.
Jaro said that they will respect the WBC?s decision and he will try to bring the fight here in the Philippines.
