As the smoke clears, and the white lights come on, boxing fans are forced to swallow the bitter taste in their mouth, with the realization that the “superfight” between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. isn’t going to happen on May 5th. And in the wings, a bald, tattooed Boricua emerges as a central figure amidst all the hoopla.
You have both Pacquiao and Mayweather fans and sycophants spinning the story, blaming each other amidst the mudslinging, while no real progress or clarity has been achieved. They pit nation versus race; loyalty vs. loyalty. United in faith, divided by hate, fueled by ignorance.
“Now, what we’ve got here is (a) failure to communicate. Some men you just can’t reach…So, you get what we had here last week. Which is the way he wants it! Well, he gets it! And I don’t like it any more than you men”.
But this isn’t an intro to a Guns N’ Roses song. This is an intro to understanding that the powers that be have been pastoring you like sheep. Like Pied Pipers playing that tune you can’t resist, using your fanaticism, bias and naivete, leading you to drown in your misery.
