Three-time world champion Erik ‘El Terrible’ Morales has been wearing a puncher’s glove, Reyes, while training to take on Manny Pacquiao in Top Rank’s big “The Battle” Pay-Per-View on Jan. 21 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. Morales, who usually wears Winning gloves, has made the switch while working out with his new trainer, Jose Luis ‘Maestro’ Sr., while training in Mexico. Gloves were a big issue in the first Morales vs. Pacquiao fight. By contract, both fighters wore Winning. After the fight Freddie Roach, chief trainer for Pacquiao, said “those were the wrong kind of gloves for Manny.” For this fight, each fighter has a choice of gloves.

Meanwhile, Team Pacquiao – including Gary Shaw, Freddie Roach, Nick Khan and Keith Davidson – were with Manny Pacquiao at his 27th birthday party this past Saturday night in Los Angeles. Pacquiao has been training at the Wild Card gym in Los Angeles. Morales vs. Pacquiao II is promoted by Top Rank in association with Wynn Las Vegas and will be held at the Thomas and Mack Center, Las Vegas, on Jan. 21. Morales vs. Pacquiao will be available on HBO Pay Per View.
