There is always going to be some kind of debate amongst hardcore fans of boxing and mixed martial arts but the reality is that both sports have shown that they can co-exist and flourish alongside one another.
Still, there are those connected to MMA who seem to feel that boxing is the less superior sport and have no problem saying it.
Take UFC fighter Brandon Vera for example, who recently caught up with FightHubTV to share some of his thoughts. Over the years, Vera has earned a name for himself in the UFC, MMA?s largest promotional company, but has also suffered his share of rough defeats along the way.

The son of a Filipino father and an Italian-American mother, Vera stays close to his roots and just recently returned from a vacation to the Philippines. The 34-year insists that during his visit, he was bombarded with questions from fans asking when mixed martial arts would be coming to the Philippines. Advertisement
?Everybody over there is just excited about MMA,? said Vera. ?They can?t wait for it to get there. They keep asking me but I have no control over it, it?s all up to the organization.?
Vera was asked about his activities on the night of December 3rd, 2011, and whether or not he watched the Bisping-Mayhem Ultimate Fighter 14 finale event at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada or whether he was interested in the rematch between boxing stars Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito in New York on the same night.
Vera?s answer was quick to the point, as he insisted that when it comes to boxing, a fight between superstars Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is all that matters to him.
?Bisping and Mayhem,? said Vera. ?I don?t really care about boxing anymore. Until Pacquiao and Mayweather fight, I don?t really care anymore. That?s the last fight I think I?m gonna watch of boxing anyways. I think after that, boxing?s over. It?s all about MMA.?
Strong words from Vera but there are several boxing insiders who would disagree. Expect more on this topic in the coming days.
