In 2011, Juan Manuel Marquez was granted with the one fight that he desperately craved; a third meeting with pound-for-pound stalwart Manny Pacquiao.
Having fought Pacquiao twice, once to a split-draw in May of 2004 and again as he lost to him via split-decision in March of 2008, a third tussle was clearly unfinished business for the Mexico City fighter.
Immediately after Pacquiao defeated Shane Mosley on May 7th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, it seemed to be a forgone conclusion to everyone that Marquez was next in line. The only problem was that Marquez, at age 38 and moving up two weight classes to face Pacquiao, was a huge underdog heading into the fight.
