In baseball, they called the late nineties and up, the ‘steroid area’. In boxing they haven’t begun to scratch the surface. Since Floyd Mayweather has changed the game and sports in general, when he put his foot forward to summit to take random blood and urine tests without being asked, Instead of being honored or respected for his gutsiness, he was villainized by most media journalist with pernicious influence over those who don’t follow closely.
Now as we see more sports come to light that urine testing alone just isn’t enough, here comes the opportunist chance to benefit off the stir of events. Victor Conte who was caught for selling illegal banned supplements to athletes, has now turn a new leaf. He wants to help structure the drug testing to make it stronger to protect against cheats. His comeback bid has included his SNAC supplements which are totally legal in the sport, a man who has made a career out of beating tests, wants the public to believe in him because he was a cheat before. Dr. Margaret Goodman who was a former ringside side Doctor for the NSAC, has now formed VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency) which is to inform the fighters of the dangers of enhancement drugs and perform more extensive tests.
Now a stand for Anti-Doping is such a great thing for the sport, but it wasn’t three years ago when Mayweather brought in USADA to do his testing, shrewd journalist called USADA a ‘Mayweather Testing Agency’ calling USADA inept with dealing with testing issues. Without even knowing the testing protocol. Dr. Goodman just recently got an extensive education on PED’s from Travis Tygart, president of USADA and Dr. Don Chatlin from UCLA. Why would she go to an inept testing company to learn about testing for PED’s? What was weird is that she sad she got the best information from Victor Conte.
