TWO nights before Christmas, World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific flyweight champion Froilan Saludar will be seeing action against experienced journeyman Nelson Llanos at the Imus Plaza in Cavite.
Saludar is keeping himself busy with a 10-round bout against Llanos for a possible world title shot in 2012.
It was recently reported that Saludar, who is ranked No.1 in the flyweight ratings of the WBO, wants a crack at the WBO flyweight crown even if it means a possible Filipino-to-Filipino clash with current holder Brian Viloria.
Viloria defended his title last Sunday with an impressive eighth-round stoppage over Giovani Segura at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The 22-year-old Saludar has an impressive 13-0-1 slate with 10 knockouts and is off from a 10th round technical knockout over former Cebuano world title challenger Gabriel Pumar in August.
Llanos, on the other hand, is 22-26-3 with nine knockouts and loss three of his four fights this year.
Llanos, 28, is an 11-year veteran and has fought the likes of interim World Boxing Association mini-flyweight champion Paipharob Kokietgym, retired former world title challenger Bert Batawang, Juanito Rubillar, Denver Cuello, Edrin Dapudong, Roli Gasca, Fernando Lumacad and Richie Mepranum.
SGG Promotions head Sammy Gello-ani, who handles Saludar, is planning on showcasing the young prospect in Cebu early next year, possibly at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City. Gello-ani is planning a title defense against Mexican Alejandro Morales.
