Some faint hearted Manny Pacquiao fans are worried that the Pinoy Idol has been “exposed” in his Nov. 12 bout against Juan Manuek Marquez. Some erstwhile Pacman backers think he will have little or no chance to beat speed demon Floyd Mayweather Jr. when their Super Bout happens next year (and it will happen). I can admit that the bookies are not wrong in making “Money” the money line favorite over Pacquiao but as to Manny not having a fighting chance to beat the American, I say pshaw, folderol and balderdash. That’s junk science, not proper analysis of the Sweet Science. Let me tell you why Pacquiao can win, why he can defeat slicker, quicker Mayweather. 1. THE MIGUEL COTTO FACTOR–Pacman handed the durable Puerto Rican a wicked beating, a trhashing, which it will eventually be realized shortened Cotto’s career. Mayweather ducked Cotto. 2. THE ANTONIO MARGARITO FACTOR–You remember the magazine covers, all the stories and all the interenet garbage about how the Tijuana Tornado was boxing’s “most feared” fighter. Pacquiao handed Tone Loc a beating but also took some pounding while doing so. Still, it was a virtually one-sided 12 round bout. Mayweather had plenty of opportunities to fight the pre-handwrap scandal Margarito but he didn’t, Floyd ducked Margarito.
