Miguel Cotto has had a lot of memorable fights during his ten-year professional career and while his victories have been notable, it?s unlikely that any of them were as sweet as his conquest of bitter rival Antonio Margarito last night.
Inside of Madison Square Garden in New York, Cotto tagged Margarito repeatedly with counter shots and he took command in front of his rabid fans. Margarito was very game but he wasn?t able to get into an offensive rhythm and by the end of the tenth round he had absorbed so much punishment that his right eye had closed, forcing the ringside physician to halt the action.
A triumphant win for Cotto and while his future remains uncertain, Saturday was a banner night for him.
