Arum?s agenda

Manila, Philippines ? What?s on the horizon for Manny Pacquiao ? whether it?s a fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez or a much-awaited clash with Floyd Mayweather ? will be on Bob Arum?s agenda after he presides over a major promotion set for Dec. 3.

Arum is staging a card featuring Pacquiao victims Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito and the Hall of Fame promoter told fightnews on Monday afternoon (Tuesday in Manila) said he is giving both Pacquiao and Marquez a break first before discussing business again.

Pacquiao and Marquez waged a war last Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and the majority decision awarded by the judges to Pacquiao giving more reasons why they have to do it again.

Arum had already mentioned as date, May 5, 2012, but nothing has been agreed upon by the two parties.

?We haven?t discussed anything with Manny,? said Arum, stressing that while Mexican promoter Fernando Beltran has also discussed some matters with Marquez, nothing is concrete at this time.

Beltran has a promotional relationship with Marquez and Arum said there is enough time to ?sort this things out.?

While Arum is pushing for a fourth clash with the 38-yearold Marquez, other members of Team Pacquiao are looking at the direction of Mayweather, a fight that will guarantee the Filipino star more money.

After Pacquiao was declared winner over Marquez, he readily agreed to give Marquez another chance.

But it?s not going to be as simple as that when actual negotiations commence.

Bouyed by his strong showing, Marquez might demand a purse much higher than the $5 million that he earned in the third match.

In the event Marquez insists that he deserves to get the moon and the stars, Pacquiao will remind him that he can afford to walk away from a fight since there is no clause in the contract that mandates him to face Marquez for the fourth time.

The only provision in the contract that would result to a fourth fight would be a Marquez victory.

Since Pacquiao was declared winner, he will use it as a leverage to put Marquez in the right place.
