The trainer of Floyd Mayweather Jr. said that Manny ?PacMan? Pacquiao won?t go beyond the fifth round if the super fight between the two best fighters in the world pushes through as expected on May 5.
?[Pacquiao] is going to get his ass whopped, and the fight won?t last more than four or five rounds at most,? said Roger Mayweather, uncle-trainer of Floyd Jr. said in an interview with On the Ropes Boxing Radio.
The thrash-talking trainer categorically said that his nephew Floyd Jr. wants to fight Pacquiao because that would be the richest fight in boxing history.
?People want to see one thing. They want to see Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. That?s what the world was waiting for,? Mayweather told Geoffrey Ciani and Jenna J. in the interview, a transcript of which was posted in their boxing talk show?s website.
?That is the biggest fight in the history of boxing to this do. So boom! If he takes that [Olympic-style anti-doping] test, the fight is going to happen. The only reason the fight ain?t going to happen is because he don?t want to take that test,? the trainer said.
According to Mayweather, Floyd Jr. will likely have a tune-up fight, possibly Marcos Maidana before the projected Pacquiao-Mayweather mega fight to be held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
?Do I think Pacquiao will be his next fight? I think my nephew will probably have one more tune-up fight first . . . I don?t know if it?s Maidana,? Mayweather said.
?The only reason the fight won?t happen with Pacquiao is . . . if he refuses to take a test to get damn near $100 million. Then tells you how big a fool he is.?
According to Mayweather, his undefeated nephew (42-0, 26 by knockouts) could be back in the ring ?in February or May.
