To be fair I haven’t read many of your article’s but I was compelled to write you in regards to your response to someone correctly breaking down the “hype machine” which is Manny Pacquiao and how you give the impression that it’s been Floyd Mayweather who’s been ducking the big fight. Everyone knows who Leonard Ellerbe’s “little fella” comment was directed to [that was Mayweather calling out Pacquiao for May 5, 2012] and on top of that ESPN’s Dan Rafael had Leonard Ellerbe confirm who he was referring to. I’m glad your saying “Manny up” now but the fact is Pacquiao’s promoter Top Rank has been ducking Floyd the whole time, Floyd has been avoiding the fight with good reason (blood test). If I didn’t hear 5 different excuses from Top Rank (not to take the test) 20 different smoke screens used (spin tactics), multiple demands for the fight (gloves, ring size, over weight penalty). Multiple catch weight BS titles and multiple leftover fighters after Floyd…etc…then maybe I would put this more on Floyd. Before I thought Floyd asking for a blood test was a distraction and maybe it was but what is more alarming is not only do alot of fighters and trainers agree that “something is fishy” but there is a need for additional blood test in the sport. Plus Mayweather is taking the same fricken test. The excuses Team Pacman have used to avoid the test and the fight all together is more than I can count. Not only is there no comparison to which side has obviously went over board in avoiding this fight, there’s also no comparison between the two of them in the ring. CheckMate
Darrell?s Response: Man, you are simplifying this way too much. There is so much more that goes into negotiations at this level of the sport. There are egos involved, Arum and Floyd?s past, not to mention the psychological edge that is crucial for both sides because as you know boxing is mostly mental. Newsflash: Floyd and Arum don?t give two shits about the fans or the sport of boxing. Let?s not pretend for even a second that Floyd cares about cleaning up the sport any more than Arum cares about making fighter?s rich, giving the fan?s their money?s worth, and the future of the sport in general. Arum?s ancient ass acts as if you can take the money with you.
