Marquez, a future Hall of Famer and the largest thorn in pound for pound luminary Manny Pacquiao?s career, will enter the ring Saturday night as a 13 to 1 underdog to win by decision against the Filipino.
Marquez and his trainer Ignacio Beristain have pulled out all the stops in preparing for their third, and likely final encounter against Pacquiao. The dynamic Mexican duo has strategically selected sparring partners, threatened Pacquiao and Coach Freddie Roach with promises of a violent knock-out, affirmed that they are not only physically, but mentality prepared, enlisted the use of ballet and special doctors to gain the weight to fight as welterweight, and even had the audacity to claim this fight will be easier than earlier ones. Yet, no matter what they do or say, Marquez and Beristain cannot convince the betting public, the sharks looking for monetary windfalls, that they can beat Pacquiao by a decision.
It is unlikely Pacquiao will be knocked out, but the sportsbooks have Marquez roughly a 11 to 1 underdog to win by knockout and 6 to 1 just to pull out a victory.
Have a couple hundred bucks to spare in this miserable economic landscape, and believe Marquez is going to pull out a victory? My suggestion take that decision, it is the only way Marquez might beat the pound for pound best man in the world.
As for me, I say Pacquiao gets the win by an 8th round technical knockout.
