Marquez deserves more respect ? Arum

LAS VEGAS ? Juan Manuel Marquez doesn?t deserve the lowly billing against Manny Pacquiao in their world welterweight title fight on Saturday night at the MGM Grand.

Based on the latest odds that were gathered late Thursday night, Pacquiao is a 10-1 favorite after opening as 8-1 when the fight was formally announced three months ago.

Late Wednesday, Pacquiao even was listed as 11-1, numbers that seem unacceptable with Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum, who is staging the much-awaited rubber match.

As shown in the Mandalay Bay sportsbook, Pacquiao is -1000 ($1,000 to win $100), while Marquez is +700 ($100 to win $700).

Arum, who has been promoting since 1966, doesn?t believe that Marquez has virtually no chance of scoring an upset.

?The odds?crazy,? hollered Arum when a handful of Manila-based scribes interviewed him at the media center.

?What should the odds really be based on ability? It should be 2-1 or 2 ? to 1.?

Arum said gamblers bet on values and ?this is the bet to make since Marquez is a huge underdog.?
