Last night in Las Vegas, Nevada, WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao was given the scare of his life by longtime nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand. After twelve frustrating rounds that seemed to favor Marquez more often than not, Pacquiao would walk away with the majority decision verdict by scores of 116-112, 115-113 and 114-114 that left the crowd, many of whom were Mexican, booing loudly.
Marquez was a huge underdog heading in but he fought with great spirit and had a great game plan, as was the case with his first two bouts with Pacquiao. From the early rounds the Mexico City fighter?s counter punching paved the way and he appeared to do enough after twelve rounds of action to be awarded with the decision.
