There had been a storm of speculation surrounding Juan Manuel Marquez this week, as it was revealed that the Mexico City star has been working with admitted steroid-dealer Angel ?Memo? Hernandez for his most recent training duties. Marquez faces off with Manny Pacquiao on November 12th on HBO pay-per-view at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada and felt a change was in need as he headed into his coveted trilogy bout.
As chronicled by HBO?s camera crews during the third 24/7 episode on Saturday night, Marquez shot back defiantly at any and all critics who might have suspected he was performing illegally behind the scenes.
?I?m training like I should be,? said Marquez. ?If they?re saying I?m using things I shouldn?t, I?m ready to take a test any time if they want.?
Marquez has fought bravely against Pacquiao on two occasions, capturing a split-draw and losing a razor-thin split-decision, but it is the loss that has seemed to haunt him. The third meeting sees him playing the role of the underdog but his confidence is far from shook.
