Pacquiao records album

BOXing ICON Manny Pacquiao is not only into movies, he’s also into recording lately. And pretty soon, he will come out with an album which is guaranteed to become a blockbuster hit – just like his recent two fights.

In a recording studio somewhere in Quezon City, Pacquiao was busy waxing a cut from his album that will be released in time for his Jan. 21, 2006 rematch with Erik Morales.

Pacquiao even let this reporter hear a portion of a song he was recording and expressed the same kind of excitement he feels whenever the discussion revolves around boxing and his three other passions, showbiz, cockfighting and billiards.

“Okay ba?” said Pacquiao, who is looking at December as the target date for the release of his album.

“Actually, ang kanta ay alay ko sa ating mga kababayan,” he said adding that the title of the album would be “Para sa Inyo ang Labang Ito.”

“Basta’t bago ang laban ko kay Morales ilalabas ito,” said Pacquiao, who is booked to meet the Mexican at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

The fight is so huge that Top Rank is keenly awaiting his arrival in the US on Nov. 11 so he and Morales could drum up more interest for the bout. According to a member of Pacquiao’s entourage, a press conference is scheduled on Nov. 15 in Los Angeles.

Pacquiao is actually a music enthusiast having sang during a show that paid tribute to his exploits and fellow fighters Brian Viloria and Rey Bautista early last month.

A few months back, he even bought a $2,000 Taylor guitar in Hollywood as he was preparing to face Hector Velazquez of Mexico. He played with the expensive string instrument while resting at his two-bedroom apartment at the Palazzo.
