8CN sat down with current Jr middleweight contender Erislandy Lara (15-1-10KO-1D) and got an update on what’s been going on with him as of late. As many of you remember, Lara was robbed of his victory over Paul Williams in what will go down as one of the worst judging disgraces in boxing in a long time. The robbery prompted the NJ commissioner to suspend all three judges indefinitely.
8CN was also joined by Lara’s manager Louis Decubas Jr. Decubas tells 8CN that they would like a crack at current champ Sergio Martinez.
Lara tells 8CN that his fight Vs. Carlos Molina was just an off night, and perhaps he is right due to how he bounced back so strongly Vs. Paul Williams. Lara fought Molina to a majority draw back in March. Molina showed the entire world that he’s certainly no joke by throttling former world champ Kermit Cintron in his last fight.
Lara wants big fights, and the kid from Cuba deserves big fights. His dominating performance Vs. Paul Williams should be rewarded with a big fight in the very near future.
