There could be a conclusion to this Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. talk after Bob Arum gave his opinion Wednesday afternoon. Of course the talk and opinions were going to come a few weeks before Pacquiao gets in the ring again with Juan Manuel Marquez for a third time. However, no matter what Arum says, surely this will not be the last time there will be talk about the mega fight.
This has nothing to do with being a coward, as some claim about Mayweather. This has to do with boxing and the fans because, as has been stated time after time, the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is what the sport has been anticipating for the past two years. Mayweather needs the money, Pacquiao is secure, but the real reason why the fight failed to be made may never be known.
Arum said Wednesday, ?The fight will never, ever happen because of Mayweather.? The comment came before the Pacquiao media workout at the Wildcard Boxing Club in Hollywood California. Known is a continued animosity that exists with Arum and Mayweather, a situation that was blown to proportion when Mayweather left Arum and Top Rank. Mayweather became a competitor, an adversary, and it is more than the drug testing issue that caused the anticipated fight to go nowhere two years ago.
So Mayweather took 16-months off and returned to the ring, a fight last month with Victor Ortiz that Arum said, ?Mayweather demonstrated a complete lack of sportsmanship and the public that paid for that was cheated. Hitting the kid with two cheap shots really put on damper on boxing.? This can be an attempt for Mayweather to respond, yet the undefeated so-called best fighter in the sport continues to battle legal issues that have reportedly depleted his bank accounts.
