RAW INTERVIEW with Hot Potato via Hollywood, California – “Juan Manuel Marquez is 38 years old,” notes Top Rank Godfather Robert “Bob” Arum who is the current promoter of Pound-for-Pound king Manny Pacquiao. “But, he is a man who doesn’t drink (except his urine); he doesn’t smoke. He keeps himself in a great condition.”
“Guys, like him, have longer ‘shelf-life’ than fighters who burn the candles on both ends.”
Arum believes Marquez has shown tremendous strength and knockout power now compared to his performance with Pacquiao back in 2004 and 2008.
“Absolutely! Absolutely! Marquez is a better fighter than he last fought Pacquiao four years ago,” Arum exhorts.
Marquez, notwithstanding, won four out of his last six fights via technical knockout over Likar Ramos (round 1), Michael Katsidis (round 9), Juan Diaz (round 9) and Joel Casamayor (round 11), with only one loss to Floyd Mayweather, Jr. via a unanimous decision and another win via a unanimous decision over Diaz in their second encounter.
