MGM Grand, LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Just after the super-fight of World Boxing Organization Welterweight Champion Manny Pacquiao and lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez last Saturday night, jubilant Top Rank Godfather Robert “Bob” Arum sent his message via media conference for World Boxing Council President Don Jos? Sulaim?n.
“Tell Jos? Sulaim?n he is an asshole!” Arum remarked after being impressed by Marquez’s superb performance against Pacquiao on trilogy in their twelve rounds of boxing.
Arum directed his statement to Sulaim?n for questioning Top Rank’s choice for Pacquiao, 33, to fight Marquez, almost 39, whom Sulaim?n thought a “washed-out” fighter.
“Marquez was already showing tremendous decline of performance in the ring when he fought Floyd Mayweather, Jr.,” commmented Sulaim?n through Mexican media just when Marquez’s was chosen last July to fight Pacquiao. Advertisement
Pacquiao and Marquez are likely to score a fourth encounter this May 5, 2011, which will throw a potential clash of Pacquiao with Mayweather. Mayweather earlier express interest to fight someone this Cinco de Mayo.
“I will sit down with both Marquez and Pacquiao soon, to make another fight,” Arum said. Marquez, who clearly demonstrated insurmoutable power and dominant techniques in their twelve rounds of boxing, failed to satisfy his supremacy over Pacquiao in the hearts of the three judges. The three judges scored the bout, to wit: Robert Hoyle, 114-114; Dave Moretti, 115-113; and Glenn Trowbridge, 116-112.
