As Manny Pacquiao entertained the media on Wednesday afternoon at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles, roughly 70 miles away, some of the fighters from his MP Promotions? banner weighed in for their tests tomorrow night at the San Manuel Casino in nearby Highland. Former featherweight title challenger Bernabe Concepcion, former junior flyweight champion Rodel Mayol, and former flyweight title challenger Richie Mepranum all made weight ahead of their showdowns on Thursday night.
Of the three, it is Concepcion who appears to have the most intriguing fight, as he will be going up against former Golden Gloves champion Aaron Garcia. Garcia is trained and managed by Vince Parra, who also oversees the duties the of lightweight contender Mercito Gesta, and he is eyeing an upset over Concepcion, who is desperately in need of a win following his shocking defeat to journeyman Juan Carlos Martinez this past May.
Pacquiao will be ringside for the festivities tomorrow night and their should be a sense of urgency in the air. Advertisement
