I?m what you would call a ?casual boxing fan.? I used to follow boxing big time before I found MMA and one of my friends invited me over to watch the Floyd Mayweather JR ? Victor Ortiz pay per view and I couldn?t believe this guy. This guy claims to be the top boxer in the world and he may be the best right now, but he would not last in other eras, even the 1990s when Oscar De La Hoya, Felix Trinidad and Ike Quartey were at their best.
I have no sympathy for Ortiz. I am sick of those people saying that he got wronged. The fans got wronged. He viciously head butted Floyd and Mayweather responded with that two punch cheap shot. I feel bad for the boxing fans. I feel bad for returning to the sport when I did. What a bad taste that left in my mouth.
Manny Pacquiao is the guy that everyone likes so much but his reckless style may hurt him against Juan Manuel Marquez in the third meeting. You know, he?s handled Manny twice and may shake the boxing world with a decision win if he can keep his head together, and that would throw a wrench in the 2012 meeting with Floyd, wouldn?t it?
Oscar De La Hoya may have had some problems, but he owned them, and he should be commended for that. The guy dealt with drugs and bad decisions but it goes with the Hollywood territory. De La Hoya, in his prime, would have Floyd for lunch and now this guy is disrespecting the Golden Boy because he came clean to his fans about his addiction and issues? He is like school on Sunday?no class.
