Last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, former champion Chad Dawson regained the WBC light heavyweight belt that he once held with a bizarre and inconclusive 2nd round TKO over living legend Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins vs. Dawson wasn?t expected to be the most thrilling of fights but the ending has left a horrible taste in everyone?s mouth.
The bout started off at a slow pace and the end came abruptly in round 2 as Hopkins leaned in over Dawson and was then pushed to the floor, where he complained of severe pain in his left shoulder as he was unable to continue. The referee failed to call a foul on Dawson?s part and since Hopkins was unable to fight on, the bout was waived on.

The undercard was entertaining in its own right as fans were treated to a thrilling comeback from Antonio DeMarco over a bloodied Jorge Linares, Paulie Malignaggi putting on a boxing clinic, Danny Garcia digging down to pound out a decision over dangerous Kendall Holt, and the professional debut of falsely imprisoned Dewey Bozella.
