MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao yesterday took a break from his training to sympathize with the victims of the typhoon ?Pedring.?
A known humanitarian, Pacquiao said the typhoon, which left 54 persons dead and missing, is just one of the challenges one has to face and hurdle.
?Don?t despair or lose hope,? he told GMA-7 in an interview.
?Pagsubok lamang ?yan sa buhay (It?s one of life?s challenges),? added the boxer, also a congressman in his home province of Sarangani.
He called on his countrymen to keep on praying in the face of the calamity that also left thousands homeless and huge damage to property.
Pacquiao is in Baguio City training for his upcoming fight with Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
He hardly smiled during the TV interview, his face showing his concern for the victims of the typhoon that struck last Tuesday.
Pacquiao was also training in Baguio City, gearing up for his fight with Miguel Cotto in 2009, when typhoon ?Ondoy? battered the country.
