Quijano: Of headbutts and cheap shots

YES , it was a legal and legitimate blow. However, in boxing not everything that is legal might be considered tasteful.

Rather, it was a cheap shot landed on an opponent who was not yet ready to engage, almost in the vicinity of Omar Nino Romero?s sneaky left hook that knocked out an unsuspecting Rodel Mayol..

But do I feel sorry for Victor Ortiz?

Not exactly. He forgot to abide by the time-honored mantra every fighter should know by heart he should repeat it in his sleep:

Protect yourself at all times.

And what the hell was he doing trying to score that jumping headbutt on Floyd Mayweather in that fourth round anyway?

Nah, I?ll shed no tears for ?Vicious? Victor.

GATTI. I don?t blame Floyd for doing what he did. It?s in his nature. When he fought Arturo Gatti in 2005, he did exactly the same thing.

In the first round with about 20 seconds to go, both fighters came out of a clinch.

Gatti was trying to say something to the referee. Immediately, Floyd Jr. made him pay by landing a thunderous left hook on ?Thunder,? which knocked him down.
