Floyd Mayweather being chased by shadow of Manny Pacquiao

RC: Boxers are notorious for having to lose weight. But Floyd Mayweather Jr., needs to shed 150 pounds. If he doesn’t rid himself of the specter of Manny Pacquiao, he’ll never find peace.

At least with Mayweather-Pacquiao the cheap shots will be outside the ring.

TW: When they were the kings of boxing, Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier fought the “Thrilla in Manila.” And Sugar Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns staged “The War.”

But, even with the biggest money fight in history within easy reach, Pacquiao and Mayweather seemed determined to deliver only “Don’t Tax The Rich.”

Conference realignment

TW: Not since the gold rush of 1849 have so many people pulled up roots and made a mad dash for the money. The ACC raid on Syracuse and Pitt leaves the Big East with Pop Warner-quality football, the SEC is going to grab at least one more team and the Big 12 may have to call itself the Final Four.

They should forget playing the national anthem at college games, and just pipe in the theme music from Exodus.

RC: Everyone complains about the musical chairs in college but few are as bitter (or as funny) as Syracuse’s Jim Boeheim who said “if conference commissioners were the founding fathers of this country, we would have Guatemala, Uruguay and Argentina in the United States.”
