Hours before the doors opened to the public at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, thousands of boxing fans lined up to get a glimpse of Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz weighing in. The animated crowd cheered as Victor Ortiz stepped on the scale weighing 147 pounds, followed by Mayweather at 146 and a half pounds. The crowd began chanting 41 and 1 in full support of Ortiz. The face off became heated as Floyd put his finger in the neck of Ortiz and then began to put his hand around his throat. As the trash talking continued to escalate they quickly separated the two fighters. Ortiz stepped away flexed his muscles and held up high in the air his WBC Welterweight Championship. After the confrontation Floyd had this to say about tomorrows fight. “I need to keep my composure stick to my game plan and listen to what my uncle Roger tells me.”
Surprisingly you would think Mayweather would have overwhelming crowd support considering the weigh ins are held in Las Vegas where he resides, but the crowd seemed to favor Ortiz. The atmosphere was lively with lots of talk about tomorrows super fight. Plenty of notables in attendance including NBA players such as Jermaine O’Neal, Trevor Ariza and Caron Butler who are in town for Impact Basketball. Comedians Kevin Hart and Paul Rodriguez, former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal, Zab Judah, Devon Alexander and many more.
