I?VE seen my share of totally unexpected and bizarre endings, but the way Victor Ortiz lost that match to Floyd Mayweather Jr. has to rank right up there with the worst or the best of them.
I still can?t decide whether Mayweather exploited a mistake by the inexperienced Ortiz, who failed to protect himself when he should have been. Or whether Mayweather is really just a dirty fighter, who tagged Ortiz when he had his guard down.
Of course, at the time, it didn?t really seem to matter either way. After the bout, Mayweather was supremely confident of the outcome because he was dominating the fight up until that point.

Mayweather doesn?t need any excuses to whack Ortiz. Of course, he may have been angry because just few moments earlier Ortiz deliberately head butted him in the corner. The move cost Ortiz a point on the judges? scorecards.
Ortiz apologized to Mayweather and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. At the center of the ring, Ortiz offered another brief hug followed by the referee indicating that the two fighters resume fighting.
