Guaranteed to happen at The Big Mayweather Fight in Las Vegas this weekend:
Prefight criticism of main event referee Joe “I’m Fair But I’m Firm” Cortez will be followed by postfight criticism. Kvetchers will find some fault in Jolting Joe’s performance even if “Money” mows Ortiz down.
In the wake of victory, Floyd will go into his tiresome “if you’re the best, take the test” song and dance.
Mayweather will heap praise upon the loser, saying Ortiz will beat Amir Khan and all the rest of them, that Ortiz is his eventual successor.
Mayweather will yank former promoter Bob Arum’s chain about something, probably implying that Manny gets paid in the dark and is totally exploited.
Mayweather will gild the lily for HBO and state again his 100 percent loyalty, his usual pitch about how, unlike Pacman and Arum, he’s got no time for Showtime.
