After eight months in between scheduled fights in what has been a one step forward two steps back scenario as of late for the world?s number 3 pound for pound fighter, Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire, one wonders if he will soon contend with other top fighters who will actually put his newly acquired superstar status to the test. For this to happen, he would no doubt have to venture into the junior featherweight, as well as featherweight divisions and beyond, as he seems to literally and figuratively stand head and shoulders above any and all remaining fighters in the bantamweight classes, especially after administering a devastating second round knockout of longtime bantamweight kingpin Fernando Montiel. Outside of Montiel, whom Donaire really never allowed to get into that fight between them in Nonito? last contest back in February of this year, and perhaps rightfully so as Montiel is a most dangerous foe, his last semblance of a challenge previous to that came in the form of Rafael Concepcion in 2009, who went the distance with Donaire then, but probably wouldn?t stand a chance nowadays with ?The Filipino Flash? if ever Concepcion were afforded the benefit of a rematch.
