MANNY PACQUIAO knows younger brother, Bobby, is facing a daunting task to beat Carlos “Famoso” Hernandez of El Salvador on Oct. 8 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
But the Filipino sports icon is unfazed, knowing Bobby has what it takes to pull off a big surprise.
Bobby is booked to collide with Hernandez, who hails from El Salvador in a 12-round super-featherweight title eliminator, and even his brother is aware that it’s going to take a lot for him to stave off a relentless puncher like Hernandez.
“Kailangan ay talagang super ang kundisyon ni Bobby sa labang ito,” said Manny, who is flying to Las Vegas with buddy Wakee Salud next week to give brother the much needed boost.
The Hernandez-Pacquiao brawl will be underneath the highly-anticipated world lightweight title rematch between Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo and tickets are selling briskly.
Armed with a robust 41-5-1 win-loss-draw card with 24 knockouts, Hernandez is favored to repulse the challenge of the younger Pacquiao, who has been training diligently at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood since late August.
Bobby, coming off an upset stoppage win over Carlos Navarro, holds a 25-11-3 slate with 11 victories within the distance.
“Dapat galawan niya si Hernandez hindi siya puwedeng tumigil dahil siguradong bobombahin siya ni Hernandez,” added Pacquiao, showing off moves that he believes are needed to catch Hernandez off-synch.
Meanwhile, Leonel Lazarito, the manager of injured Filipino boxer Ayon Naranjo told the Bulletin yesterday afternoon that the condition of the Bukidnon-born super-bantamweight, who suffered a lopsided loss to Venezuelan prospect Jorge Linares over the weekend in Japan, is improving.
Lazarito could not say exactly when they are expected to return home since the team of Japanese doctors who are treating Naranjo wants the boxer to remain until he is 100% fit to come back.
Lazarito said Naranjo’s brain was scanned four times in an effort to determine whether the hapless Filipino would undergo surgery or not.
Japanese boxing personality Joe Koizumi wrote in the website fightnews.com that Naranjo should be back in two weeks time.
Linares knocked down Naranjo in the fifth round of their six-round superfeather bout at the Yokohama Arena.
