David Haye is suddenly twittering on about how he may be willing to put his retirement on hold if Vitali Klitschko really wants to finish the humiliating job started by his brother Wladimir.
After beating up Tomasz Adamek in Poland on Saturday night to retain the WBC world heavyweight title, the elder Klitschko reiterated that he would really, really like to knock out the ‘long-tongued’ Londoner who lost the WBA belt by a massive points margin to the younger Klitschko.
We’ve heard it all before, of course. Haye talked a great fight prior to embarrassing himself by blaming the cringing loss to Wladimir on a sore little toe. Now it is becoming difficult to believe anything he says.
One day he tells Carl Froch he is definitely quitting as planned come his 3lst birthday on October 13. A few days later he claims that Lennox Lewis has persuaded him to carry on for another six months by telling him how to beat Vitali.
