Earlier today in Wroclaw, Poland, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko subdued brave opponent Tomasz Adamek for a 10th round TKO. Klitschko was in control throughout the fight and Adamek ate several flush, thudding shots as the rounds wore on.
The champion from the Ukraine scored a knockdown in the sixth and the end seemed to be near, yet Adamek?s courage would allow him to fight on. Referee Massimo Barrovecchio mercifully waived the action off a two minutes and twenty seconds into round ten when it was obvious that a fading Adamek was in no shape to continue.
With the victory, Klitschko sees his record rise to 43-2 with 40 knockouts while putting a further stranglehold on the division that he and his champion brother Wladimir rule. Las Vegas odds had Wladimir as a heavy favorite heading into the bout and he showed his bettors why he was worth the risk tonight.
