Yesterday afternoon in Ventura, California, WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz participated in an open media workout in advance of his September 17th clash against Floyd Mayweather, set to take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. It?s by far the biggest test of Ortiz?s young career and the 24-year old looked to be in great spirits and tremendous shape.
Moments before Ortiz took the ring, I shared a few words with his trainer Danny Garcia, as we discussed his history with Victor, his inspiring upset over Andre Berto this past April, and how they plan to defeat the heavily-favored Mayweather next month. Towards the end of our talk the attention turned to some recent headlines that were made by Floyd Jr. and his father during the first episode of HBO?s 24/7 series to promote the fight.
