THE ALA Promotions and Cobra Energy Drink ?Cobra Tunay na Lakas? boxing show once again hits the shores of Davao City as it features some of the most promising fighters this Saturday night.
A 10-round fight between former world title challenger Balweg Bangoyan and ex-World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific Youth featherweight titlist Ricky Sismundo will headline the successful boxing series at the Rizal Park.
Revival
The Davao del Sur native Bangoyan, 16-2 with seven knockouts, is looking to revive his young career after being temporarily derailed following two straight losses last year.
He challenged for the World Boxing Council super bantamweight crown against Japanese Toshiaki Nishioka, but failed after being stopped in the fifth round of their world title tussle in Tokyo, Japan. His devastating loss was followed up with a sixth-round stoppage loss against knockout artist Lorenzo Villanueva.
Sismundo, 20-6 with seven knockouts, could pose a problem for ?The Davao Hitman? as the former has fought some of the best in his weight division, the likes of International Boxing Federation featherweight titleholder Billy Dib and former world title challengers Daud Cino Yordan and Terdsak Kokietgym.
Undercards
In the undercard, Cebuano Joseph Von Mi?oza (10-2, 4 KOs) takes on 19-year-old Ernie Sanchez (11-1, 4 KOs) in another 10-round affair; Marjohn Yap (15-6, 8 KOs) faces Ronnie Apelado (10-1, 5 KOs); Joemer Lumacad (3-1, 2 KOs) trades leathers with Johng Ponteras (6-8-1, 2 KOs); Cebuano Arjan Canillas (1-0-1, 1 KO) is up against upstart Johnrey Lorico; and Davao City?s Bonjon Loperez makes his ring debut against fellow newcomer Rodante Suacusa.
