Caroline Wozniacki, the #1 ranked tennis player in the world is a devoted ring observer who attended the Mike Tyson-Brian Nielsen fight in person, was on site at the U.S Open Tuesday afternoon, after her comeback win last night against Svetlana Kuznetsova 67 75 61. I asked Caro for her pick on the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight.
?I think maybe Mayweather,? she answered. ?I don?t know?I just think?I think they?re very even though. It?s tough because I haven?t watched their fights too much, both of them. So, I mean, it?s tough for me to say one or the other. If you asked me??
I interject, ?It?s 50-50??
Caro responded, ?Yeah, 50-50, I think.?
Me: ?Comes down to who wants it more basically??
Caro: ?Exactly. And where will they fight??
Me: ?It?s not official yet because Mayweather hasn?t stepped up yet and they both have scheduled fights later this year. Is there one who you do prefer, maybe personality or style-wise?
Caro: ?To be honest, I don?t know them too well, to be able to comment too much on it. So it?s tough for me to say.?
Me: ?But you will watch it though??
Caro: ?I will watch it, definitely [smiles]. I mean, I would not miss it [smiles]. So hopefully it will happen.?
With her big win late last night vs. Kuznetsova, a former U.S. Open champ, Wozniacki has reached the quarterfinals where she will play #10 seed Andrea Petrovic. Wozniacki, the #1 seed, is attempting to win her first grand slam singles title.
Wozniacki also does boxing training as part of her off-court fitness regimen and in a previous feature that was published on this site, she credited the footwork and pad-punching exercises for benefitting her agility and reflexes on court, as well as sharpening her vision.
