Boxing burials for David Hayemaker Haye, Kelly Pavlik premature

Stick a fork in the lively and lucrative career of disappointing British heavyweight hope David Hayemaker Haye.

Ditto for dissatisfied former world mddleweight champion Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik. His fight week pullout of an easy $50,000 payday means his boxing life is alll but over.

Sorry, but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of either the UK heavyweight or the Youngstown, Ohio, fighter.

I must concede they both took massive credibility hits recently, the loquacious Haye in a dismal performance against Wladimir Klitschko and Pavlik is leaving blue collar opponent Darry Cunningham without a foe in tuneup that Pavlik insisted on having before fighting super middleweight king Lucian Bute.

But finished? What a load of rubbish.

Boxing is the Seventh Chance Saloon, a place where the consumers forgive and forget disappointments from big name fighters.

What Haye needs is one solid victory or maybe two. He and rising English star Tyson Fury would be a huge national fight in Old Blighty but I doubt the still green Fury wants it at this juncture. Haye can knock over one or two tomato cans and he’ll get another big money shot.

I mean, he can always try Vitali K on for size, right?

Anyone throwing the towel in on the 30 year old Haye (he turns 31 on Oct. 13, which he kept blabbing was his retirement date) or the only age 29 Pavlik is ridiculous.
