There hasn’t been many boxers that have achieved the success that Manny Pacquiao has over the past few years. It doesn’t happen too often that fighters get on American television commercials. Manny Pacquiao’s recent commercial has been gaining traction in America with the catch line, “Millions of hits” at the very end.
It’s nice to see a guy like Pacquiao have some television success outside of the boxing ring. With that said, Pacquiao with his historical boxing career should be seen on US mainstream TV more. Perhaps if he was a white guy from Boston that’s captured 8 division title’s he would have more TV time. As a matter of fact, take it from this white guy, I guarantee that he would.
Pacman has been on the Jimmy Kimmel show a few times and has done great each time. The studio is usually jam packed with Filipino fans, all waiting for their champ to come out.
Personally, I would like to see Manny have more success on the East Coast, perhaps on David Letterman, or even better as host of Saturday Night Live. He’s got the personality to be funny, and he certainly isn’t afraid to perform in front of people.
Pacquiao should have more cameo appearances on American TV shows as well. Someone at his level in this writers opinion should have already been on sitcoms or even a drama or two.

Pacquiao has done pretty good on the West coast, but he’s still not done much on the East coast. Manny certainly has more to do in the ring before it’s all said and done, but when he hangs up the gloves, he surely has a career in American TV.

Of course Pacman has much to do in The Philippines as an elected Congressman, but his career in TV is there if he wants it.
Mississippians chimed in on this topic at the Mississippi Braves (Atlanta Braves AA) game. I spoke with Hugh Jones of Jackson, MS what he thought of Pacquiao and his emergence on American television commercials, “When I first saw him, I wasn’t sure who it was. It sort of sank in when he talked about winning in other weight classes. I am not a big boxing fan though.”
I spoke with Stan Bronikowski of Pearl, MS and got his thoughts, “Manny is the king of the ring. I would love to see him on bigger TV shows though. It’s cool he got a few commercials, but I would love to see him on some sitcoms.”
Although Pacquiao has done well in America outside of the ring, he probably can do better. Pacman would be better served to test the market on the East coast as well.
