CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY –This Citys legislative body joined the rest of the country in commending the recent victory of Philippine boxing hero Manny Pacquiao .
Through a resolution passed during its regular session Tuesday, the Cagayan de Oro City Council said “ the historical win of “People’s Champ” Manny Pacquiao over Mexico’s ring hero Hector Velasquez at the Staples Center, Los Angeles Sunday lifted the spirit of the Filipinos.
The resolution authored by Councilor Jose Benjamin Benaldo also cited the victories of two other Filipino boxers in the same card—newly crowned World Boxing Council Jr. flyweight champion Brian Viloria and Boholano sensation Boom Boom Bautista.
Both Viloria and Bautista also scored sensational wins via the short route with Viloria knocking out his opponent in the first round and Bautista stopping his foe in the third round.
Councilor Benaldo said the City Council salutes the three Philippine boxing heroes. “Indeed, they are our new breed of Filipino world class boxers,” Benaldo said.
