Ahead of the press tour to promote his November trilogy fight with Juan Manuel Marquez looming, reigning WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao began the first of a series of pre-fight interviews recently, and on most topics, his opinions were clear.
For example he expects opponent Juan Manuel Marquez to have trained very hard for their upcoming fight, and will have prepared accordingly for his style.
He is also not looking past his current position as a congressman in favor of his eventual political aspirations, and expects to retire after only a handful more fights at the most.
On others topics though he isn’t so certain, for example when asked about fighting Floyd Mayweather last week on Peter Maniatis’ KO Boxing Show, Pacquiao replied:
“There’s a big possibility by next year that the fight with me and Mayweather will push through, maybe by next year”
For fans still clamoring for a fight between the two, undoubtedly a positive sign.
