FLAMBOYANT Canadian warrior Tyson Cave is looking to impose his will against AJ Banal and hand the Filipino his second career defeat this Saturday night in their World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific bantamweight title tussle in the main event of ?Pinoy Pride 7-Battle in Mactan?.
Cave doesn?t plan to slug it out with Banal. Instead, he will use his crafty unorthodox style to dissect the 22-year-old former world title challenger and break him down.
?I don?t knock people out. I do more than that. I make people cry in the ring,? said a confident Cave in the press luncheon yesterday at the Maya Mexican Restaurant. ?If I?m done taking AJ?s belt ,then I?ll be back here as the Filipino Tyson.?
Banal is one of the Philippines? most promising and hard-hitting young fighters but Cave is unfazed by his opponents credentials, frequently calling out Banal and goofing around.
?I haven?t been hit too many times, see my beautiful face,? said the current World Boxing Council Continental Americas super bantamweight king.
Cave patterns his flamboyant style after the great Muhammad Ali and former world champion ?Prince? Naseem Hamed.
?I?ve been waiting for an experience like this. A matchup between a flashy guy and a hard hitter, the building will be electric and we?ll create fireworks. It?ll be a match between a matador and a bull,? said Cave, 15-1 with 5 knockouts.
A win against Cave would be Banal?s ticket to a rematch with his only tormentor, Rafael Concepcion, but Cave believes that Banal would be ?stupid? to overlook him.
?That?s a very big problem. He should definitely think about me. He should worry about Tyson Cave,? he said.
Like Cave, the Indonesians are also convinced of beating their Filipino counterparts in the undercard of the big boxing show.
?We will win,? said Indonesian handler Suragan Rambing.
Reigning Indonesian bantamweight champion Richard Samosir is taking on grizzled veteran Michael Domingo, while crafty veteran Eddy Comaro is facing knockout specialist Lorenzo Villanueva.
