Last night inside Amir Khan added the IBF junior welterweight crown to his prize with a one-sided, 5th round TKO over former champion Zab Judah inside of the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada. Khan was in complete control throughout the contest, controlling the action with his work rate while making things hard for Judah because of his superior size and length.
Khan controlled rounds one through four although the action was a bit tepid. In the fifth the British star landed with a right hand on the inside and followed up with a right hand to the border that had Judah on the deck as he failed to beat the ten count issued by referee Vic Drakulich.

Afterwards Judah complained the punch was low and replays did show that Khan had traveled a bit south with his blow, as it was right on the border of Judah?s trunks. Still, Khan was in complete control and looked to be on his way towards a convincing win but Judah will surely claim that things would have been different.

Expect Zab to hang around and state his case for bigger fights but it is Khan who once again has serious momentum behind his career. He has been flirting with the possibility of a fight with Floyd Mayweather in 2012 and this performance only added interest to that fight.
Mayweather has business of his own to deal with in the form of a September 17th duel with WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz inside of the MGM Grand. Once the dust settles from that encounter we?ll see what Floyd?s next move is.
