Trainer says excitement over Pacquiao v Mayweather fight has peaked
Legendary trainer Freddie Roach believes that the hype over potential fight between eight-weight world champion Manny Pacquiao and five-weight belt holder Floyd Mayweather is on the wane and says either of his top two fighters have the credentials to inflict the WBC welterweight title challenger?s first professional defeat.
Roach, 51, who is currently filming an HBO documentary to be aired in 2012, praised 34 year-old Mayweather?s fighting abilities before adding that another of his up and coming fighters, Peter ?Kid Chocolate? Quillin is hoping to face Sergio Martinez in the near future.
?I think I have a good plan to beating Mayweather,? said Roach, who took time out from filming to speak to BoxingFutures.com.
?That being said he is definitely the most difficult fighter to beat in the world and I look forward to the challenge of fighting him.
?The Pacquiao and Mayweather fight is still the biggest fight out there, let?s face it, but the thing is people are getting tired of all the bulls**t.
?In terms of excitement about the fight it?s already peaked and gone away. But I think I?ve got two guys that I can beat Mayweathr with and whoever meets him first I don?t care.?
Roach added this on a potential Quillin v Martinez match-up; ?We said we?ll fight Sergio Martinez right now but he doesn?t want to talk about that.
