AFTER punching his way to victory atop the ring just days back, Manny Pacquiao vows to win another battle off the ring: do away with liquor.
Pacquiao made the vow in a television interview with ABS-CBN Monday night, two days after stopping Hector Velazquez of Mexico in the 6th round to win the World Boxing Council international super featherweight title at the Staples Center in Los Angeles The Filipino ring sensation, promised himself, prior to the bout that he will stop drinking alcohol the moment he wins over Velazquez.
“Hindi na po ako iinom (I will stop drinking liquor)”, Pacquiao said.
Not only that, Pacquiao also promised to limit his gambling activities.
Pacquiao, 26, got involved in a bar brawl in General Santos City a few years back and is a known heavy bettor on cockfights and billiard games.
After making the vow, Pacquiao also took the opportunity to thank the Filipino people for their unending support.
“Sana suportahan n’yo pa ako sa mga susunod ko pang laban (I hope you will continue to support me in my next fights)”, Pacquiao said.
