Juan Manuel Marquez says mentality is #1 in training for Pacquiao

As the sands of time slowly trickle towards the November 12 boxing bout between pound for pound champion Manny Pacquiao and lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez, the Mexican’s team has a lot to say about preparations for the bout.

Marquez has already announced several aspects of his training methods for a critical third bout with Manny Pacquiao.

“Dinamita”, will be using a special medical team to gain weight as he ventures beyond the lightweight limits to fight Pacquiao as a welterweight, adding ballet into his training, and firmly believes he can match the Filipino’s speed.

Last week, Marquez’s Hall of Fame trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain even stated his belief that the third fight might be an easy one for his fighter.

Doctors, ballet, and world class trainer aside, Marquez feels one aspect of his preparations are the key to victory … and physicality has nothing to do with it.

“First I must prepare myself mentally,” said Marquez. “Pacquiao is the best in the world. Mental preparation is first, before anything physical or any dealings with my medical team.”

Going twelve rounds is no easy feat, when your opponent is Manny Pacquiao, but expect Marquez to be ready and willing to put himself on the line – just as he did in the pair’s previous two bouts.
