Earlier today at the Hudson Theatre in New York City, WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz and undefeated superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. went face to face for the first time in the kickoff press conference for their upcoming September 17th clash in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather looks to add Ortiz’s name to his resume in a clash inside of the MGM Grand that will hopefully lead to bigger things down the road.
During Ortiz’s time on the dais he kept things brief, showing complete admiration for Mayweather but also showing a serious sense of belief in himself. Ortiz is coming off of a career-high victory over Andre Berto in April, a fight in which he survived two knockdowns while dishing out serious punishment of his own.

But when Mayweather took to the stand his speech was much more elaborate, as he touched on the importance of this fight, his hopes of one day facing Manny Pacquiao in the future, he relationship with HBO, drug testing in the sport of boxing, and much more. Whether you love him or hate him, you gotta admit that it’s good having Floyd back.
Expect more from both Ortiz and Mayweather later tonight…
