Franklin Gacal, the Filipino lawyer of pound-for-pound star Manny Pacquiao, said on Thursday night that Canadian Mike Koncz?s role in Team Pacquiao will be drastically cut with the hands-on involvement of VisionQwest Accountancy Group of Los Angeles. Koncz is on his way to Manila from Los Angeles and is expected to arrive Friday morning.
When news came out Monday that he had been fired by Pacquiao, Koncz immediately contacted his boss and was assured that he remains part of the team. Interviewed by Filipino scribes one day after the Internet reports came out, Pacquiao said the report of Koncz?s alleged firing ?is not true.? Even Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum, who is vacationing in the South of France, said Koncz will remain as Pacquiao?s adviser.
But MP8.ph website, said to be the official website of Pacquiao, said that?s no longer the case and that it was Pacquiao himself who decided on the matter. Koncz said ?things like this happen whenever I am not with Manny in the Philippines.?
